About this listing

This library appears to be a simple square building made of perforated concrete panels. The transparent steel front construction above the entrance is inspired by the urban-planning prescribed arcade. However, inside, a collage of elementary forms, untreated materials (wood, concrete, corrugated sheeting, chipboard), and dimensional and construction systems form a complex composition, both in plan and section.

For example, the study room is equipped with a separately curved roof "house", which has sunk through the floor, and sloping ramps form vertical connections. Despite its modest volume, the building has thus acquired a complex spatial quality in the interior, where the distinction between floors hardly exists. Building-height concrete panels, equipped with small window openings, are supported by a horizontal window strip that keeps them free from the floor, giving the appearance of floating.

The upper floor is supported by three inclined columns, which prevent regular order even in the row of columns.
