About this listing

The Arkemheen polder is a part of the Arkemheen-Eemland National Landscape (and a Natura 2000) area.

The visitor center is located in the old coal shed of the steam pumping station and underwent a metamorphosis in 2016. The new permanent exhibition is curated by Waterschap Vallei en Veluwe, Vereniging van Natuurmonumenten, LTO Noord afdeling Veluwerand, Stichting BAO, and Stichting Stoomgemaal Arkemheen.

With its surprising elements, visitors of all ages get a good impression of the unique cultural-historic natural values of the Arkemheen polder. There are treasure hunts, a breathtaking photo wall, adorable polder animals, the dyke overseer tells her story; there is something for everyone to experience.

The Hertog Reijnout Steam Pumping Station and Arkemheen Visitor Center organize various attractive events annually, which are well worth a visit.
