About this listing

At Cheese Farm Bennesse you can find real farmhouse cheese from Flevoland! The company is located in Zeewolde on Ossenkampweg. On this farm, the owners run a dairy farm, an artisanal cheese factory with an accompanying farm shop, and a horse pension.

Fun fact: How is cheese made?

To make one kilogram (Gouda) cheese, about 10 liters of milk are needed. The production of this cheese starts in the milking parlor in the morning where the cows are milked. They immediately start making cheese after milking. The morning milk is still warm when it goes into the tub. It can't get any fresher than that!

Once the milk is in the tub (a whopping 1000 liters!), various additives are added, such as culture and rennet. Culture gives the cheese a good taste and ensures that it stays fresh longer. Rennet is needed to make the solid substances in the milk clump together.

Would you like to come and see? On Saturday mornings, cheese making can be observed from our cheese shop.
